I am the youngest of five. I have three brothers and one sister. I was born and grew up on the east coast by the sea in a place called Batticaloa. I learnt to cook from my mother when I was young. My favourite dishes were Okra and Fish Curry, made with fresh coconut. I love playing cricket and on Sundays, I would go to the beach and fish. Any fish that I caught I would take home and cook fresh that day. Another favourite dish of mine is Beef Biryani which we cooked when we had family celebrations – which could include up to thirty people. When I first came to the UK I lived in Yorkshire, in Halifax, and I worked in a community kitchen as a chef.
